Had to use different browser to keep the sale price

If they change price, try a different price. It’s frustrating to defeat this website when it comes to bait and switch.

Size does matter.

I've owned several pairs of 2140 Wayfarers over the years, however they were 50 mm. Did l look cool wearing them? Of course I did, however l came to realize that the 54 mm size would fit me better so I ordered a pair. Was l correct in my decision? Of course I was. Now my cool factor is completely off the charts. So regardless of what you may hear, take it from me...size does matter.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the Ray-Ban RB2140 Original Wayfarer and RB2132 New Wayfarer?

The RB2140 Original Wayfarer features a distinctive pantoscopic tilt (forward angle) and bolder, taller acetate construction that's been unchanged since 1952. The RB2132 New Wayfarer sits flatter on your face with a more streamlined, modern fit and slightly smaller lens height. The Original offers that classic retro look, while the New Wayfarer provides a more contemporary, universal fit with better overhead sun protection.

Are Ray-Ban RB2140 sunglasses prescription-ready?

Yes, the Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer RB2140 is fully prescription-ready and can accommodate single-vision, progressive, and blue-light blocking lenses. The durable acetate frame and full-rim construction make it ideal for prescription lens installation. Most optical retailers can fit these frames with your exact prescription, including polarized prescription lenses.

What size Ray-Ban Wayfarer should I get—50mm or 54mm?

The 50mm lens width (with 22mm bridge) is the most common size and fits average to narrow faces comfortably. The 54mm lens width (with 18mm bridge) is designed for medium to large faces or those who prefer an oversized, bold look. To find your size, measure an existing pair of sunglasses or check the measurements printed inside the temple arm of your current frames.

Do Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer sunglasses have UV protection?

Yes, all Ray-Ban RB2140 Original Wayfarer sunglasses include lenses coated with 100% UV protection to shield your eyes from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Whether you choose standard, polarized, gradient, or mirrored lenses, full UV400 protection is standard across all lens options for maximum eye safety.

What face shapes work best with the Ray-Ban RB2140?

The Original Wayfarer's square shape with softened edges flatters oval, round, and heart-shaped faces particularly well by adding definition and balance. The bold frame also works for square and diamond face shapes when sized correctly. The key is choosing the right lens width—50mm for narrower faces, 54mm for wider—to ensure the frame doesn't overwhelm or underwhelm your features.

Are Ray-Ban Wayfarers comfortable for all-day wear?

Yes, the RB2140 is designed for extended wear with lightweight acetate construction, sculpted temples, and a secure fit that doesn't slide. Many customers report wearing them comfortably for hours during travel, outdoor activities, and daily commutes. The seven-barrel hinges provide durability and flexibility, while the frame's balanced weight distribution prevents pressure points on the nose and temples.

What is the difference between the Ray Ban RB2140 and the Ray Ban RB2140F

The main difference between the Ray-Ban RB2140 (Original Wayfarer) and RB2140F (Asian/Full Fit) is that the 2140F is designed for a better fit on lower nose bridges,

featuring larger nose pads, a slightly flatter lens tilt (less pantoscopic tilt), and generally comes in a 52mm lens size to better accommodate wider faces, whereas the 2140 features a stronger forward tilt and standard pad

Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer RB2140 vs. New Wayfarer RB2132: Which Should You Choose?

If you're deciding between Ray-Ban's two most popular Wayfarer models, you're not alone—this is the most common question Wayfarer shoppers face. Both are iconic, but they serve different style preferences and fit needs.

The Original Wayfarer RB2140 is the 1952 legend: bold acetate construction, taller lenses, and that distinctive pantoscopic tilt (forward angle) that gives it unmistakable retro character. It's the frame James Dean wore in Rebel Without a Cause and Tom Cruise sported in Risky Business. If you want authentic vintage style and don't mind a slightly more pronounced fit, the RB2140 is your frame. It comes in 50mm and 54mm sizes and works beautifully for oval, round, and heart-shaped faces.

The New Wayfarer RB2132 is the modern update: it sits flatter on your face with no forward tilt, features a shorter lens height, and uses lightweight propionate construction. It's more comfortable for all-day wear, offers better overhead sun coverage, and comes in more sizes (52mm, 55mm, 58mm). If you prioritize comfort and a contemporary look over vintage authenticity, the RB2132 is the better choice—and it starts at a lower price ($117.56 vs. $133).

Our recommendation: Choose the RB2140 Original Wayfarer if you want the most iconic, culturally significant sunglasses ever made and love that bold, tilted retro aesthetic. Choose the RB2132 New Wayfarer if you prefer a flatter, more universal fit with modern comfort and versatility. Both are prescription-ready, offer 100% UV protection, and deliver Ray-Ban quality—you truly can't go wrong.

Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer RB2140 vs. Wayfarer RB4340

The RB4340 Wayfarer is a contemporary reinterpretation with refined proportions and modern colorways. It's lighter and more streamlined than the RB2140 but doesn't carry the same vintage heritage. If you want Wayfarer style with a fresh, updated look and don't need the cultural cachet of the 1952 original, the RB4340 is worth considering. However, for timeless appeal and investment value, the RB2140 Original Wayfarer remains unmatched.
